8-bit image files?

I'm wondering why the bit depth of all the character sprites aren't even consistent and some aren't even supported by the client.
I've made a converter to convert all of them to 8 bit.
But, is there a reason behind this? Or no one actually bothered to fix them?


EDIT : Oh, not to mention the crappy GUI for the server, as well as the need to have a batch file to run the client.

EDIT 2 : I really hated the GUI. So I decided to make a new one. It's fully functional.

Nice update to the server im glad to see somebody that knows something about java helping out. Love the extra options.

The images are ripped from pokemon roms and if you have ever rom hacked you would know the file storage is really strange.

Ps i did the same.

Hm, it only doesn't support 64 bit / 32 bit I think.
All images are now about 24~32 bit. Forgot which.

Oh, and the UI now looks like this
