Although we are only a short way into the year, there have already been plenty of notable video game releases, some of which may have gone under your radar. The Rage Zone team are always on top of anything gaming related though so we have you covered. We have compiled a list of the top 5 games released so far in 2026. Rage Zone has tried and tested all of the games so that they all have our stamp of approval. Enjoy!
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 Edition
There is always something new occurring in Animal Crossing and this month saw the release of New Horizons for the Switch 2. Available for purchase via the Nintendo online store and available for physical purchase at your local gaming store, this version will come with enhanced 4k resolution and the ability to play with up to 12 friends at the same time. You will also get a new Megaphone item which uses the built-in microphone of the Switch 2 which will help you to find exactly where your friends are!
The Switch 2 edition of this game really is brilliant and it is easy to see the increased 4k resolution graphics. You certainly will not be disappointed with the Switch 2 Edition if you do already have other versions.
Confidential Killings
Confidential Killings is a new detective game available on PC only which is set in the glitzy’ world of Hollywood in the 1970s. You play the detective and it is your job to thoroughly explore crime scenes in order to work out who the murderer is. However, not all is as straightforward as seems in this game and we will not reveal any more than that!
What we will say is that actors, writers and producers are getting murdered and as the top detective in LA, you are the only person who can solve these murders. There are also a few expansion packs which we recommend buying only if you enjoy the main game.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
Switch 2 users get the opportunity to play the PS5 remake of Final Fantasy VII on their Switch 2 device! This version includes better frame rates, better graphics and much less texture pop-in. You will also be able to see an exclamation mark sign which tells you which enemy attacks cannot be blocked – previous versions of this game did not include this and it really makes a massive difference to the quality of the gameplay.
The Intermission DLC is also included here. Basically, if you want to be able to play Final Fantasy VII on the go, then the Switch 2 version will be a good choice.
Scarab Rising Megaways
Ancient Egyptian settings within games have long been popular. From Prince of Persia The Sands of Time back in 2003, games have come a long way but there is still a huge audience for playing games set in Ancient Egypt. Scarab Rising Megaways lets you journey across the Egyptian trail to unlock features and collect gold. Like all Megaways slot games in 2026 and beyond, there is a huge number of paylines (117,649) which means that there are more ways to trigger wins compared to any other slot game.
Scarab Rising Megaways can be played on your mobile and computer desktop and even your tablet. The maximum win is 10,000 times your bet, so theoretically it is possible to win £10,000 from just a £1 bet!
Dynasty Warriors: Origins
A hugely popular hack and slash game where you are in the middle of some epic battles from ancient China, Dynasty Warriors: Origins allows you the opportunity to play on your Switch 2 device. There have been plenty of Dynasty Warrior games in the past and this one is perhaps the most technologically advanced one which feels like you are playing the old classic games.
We loved jumping on a horse and just slashing our Katana from horseback. There are some truly epic battle moments too like when you meet an enemy hero.
2026 Is Looking Like a Top Year For New Games
