Amazon is making a push to attract more console players to New World: Aeternum by launching a free trial for Xbox and PlayStation 5 users.
Starting today, the trial is available through each platform’s digital store. To participate, you’ll need an active subscription for online play on your console of choice. According to Amazon’s announcement, the free trial offers “a seamless introduction to the game.” If you decide to purchase the full game after trying it out, all your progress from the trial will carry over.
With the console launch now over a month old, this move seems aimed at refining the console experience and giving players a chance to explore what New World has to offer.
Players can choose between platform-specific servers or cross-play servers open to everyone. While the trial offers a limited experience, it’s a great way to get acquainted with Aeternum’s lore, its curse, and the challenges waiting within.
New World: Aeternum debuted on consoles in October, alongside a significant overhaul of the original PC version. In addition to expanding to new platforms, the reboot introduced major updates to gameplay and narrative elements. Amazon has also been releasing a series of short videos to help players familiarize themselves with Aeternum, its key characters, and starting options.
