If you are reading this then you must be thinking about – or just started – playing Final Fantasy XIV for the first time. In which case, we have two things to say to you: First, welcome! And second, what took you so long? We always hesitate to label any MMORPG as ‘the best’, but there is a good case for making that claim here. More than 22 million global users, one of the friendliest communities you will find online, and just a stunningly realized world with gorgeous and immersive stories – really, what’s not to love? If this is not what you were looking for, then click here for new online casinos Canada, but if so then read on for the 5 top tips for FF XIV newbies.
Stick at it
Okay, I know that we said it’s a contender for best MMORPG, but the base game can put off a lot of newcomers. Taking upwards of 50 hours to complete, at times it can be a bit slow. But once you have completed A Realm Reborn, the game comes into its own and it is so worth it – we promise! If you don’t have an IRL gaming partner to help you along, then fear not. Noobs are welcome here, and most veterans are more than happy to help.
Don’t worry too much about character creation
Some people will tell you that character creation is all-important, because ultimately you will be spending many hours with your chosen avatar. This is true, but aspects such as gender and race have no impact on gameplay – plus, you can make adjustments later if you wish. Choosing a class has much more significance for how the game is played, but again you can change class later without too much effort. Most players will move between classes until they find what style suits them best – if you are not sure where to start then try Arcanist to begin with.
Stay on track with quests
There is a lot to take in, and it’s easy to get sidetracked with random quests if you’re not careful. Remember, your number one goal is to make it through to the really good stuff in the sunlit uplands of Heavensward. Hall of Novice quests are there to give you tutorials on how to play with your class or job, and there are quests that can unlock new features or change your class. However, in order to keep the story moving forward then stick primarily to main story quests.
Join the community
If you want to play with friends, then you must choose the relevant data centre. As we have already mentioned, FF XIV has a fantastic community so you should not be alone for long. Square Enix has a community finder for lone players, and most players are eager to welcome newcomers. Set your ‘home’ to the social hub of Limsa Lominsa – you won’t regret it.
Find your place
FF XIV is a multi-faceted world, and just like real life you should play to your strengths and do what makes you happy. If you find that combat is not for you, at least not all the time, then there are many other avenues to explore. Unlock a crafting job such as carpenter, weaver, goldsmith or alchemist for a wholly different experience.
This has been but a brief introduction to the complex and rewarding world of Final Fantasy XIV. Luckily there is a huge amount of information available online about each minute aspect of the game, so you
