Niantic has revealed its big plans for its first birthday event, a live event in Chicago and the promise of “exciting new features” coming to Pokemon Go very soon. The Solstice Event will start on June 13th. Players will be able to more easily find Fire and Ice type Pokemon and throwing a Pokeball accurately will yield big XP bonuses as well and Lucky Eggs will be discounted in the shop.

After the Solstice Event ends, a new update will be deployed which will focus on collaborative group game play features that will get you playing Pokemon Go in fun new ways. Prior to the update going live, Pokegyms will be offline.

Lastly, the first-ever Pokemon Go Fest will be held in Chichago in Grant Park on July 22nd. Tickets and additional information about the event will go live on June 19th. European players will have a number of events held between June and September in cooperation with Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers. Japanese players will be able to celebrate with the Pokemon Company during Pikachu Outbreak. More details on all of these events will be coming soon.
