Samsung White Wins the 2014 League of Legends World Championships

Playing in no less than a foorball stadium, the 2014 League of Legends world championships have reached their exciting end. Samsung White (SSW) have emerged as this years winners and it was a truly dominate performance the whole way. Right from group stages through to Sunday’s final, SSW have been stomping everyone they faced, even their sister team Samsung Blue (SSB).

From the start of the group stages SSW were able to play pretty much any team composition they chose, and finished their matches without wasting any time. They were by far the most dominant team from the bigenning to the end, losing only two games the whole world championship! This is a new record beating last years’ record of three loses by SK Telecom T1.

The new champions have to be pleased with their sweet $1,000,000 cash prize.

Sangam Stadium may have opened to house a soccer tournament, but on Sunday night, Samsung White turned it into a slaughterhouse. Closing out its indomitable 2014 post-season run, Samsung White ran away with the League of Legends 2014 World Championship, defeating Star Horn Royal Club in a 3-1 rout. Though Uzi and his Royal Club did manage an impressive Game 3 win, today’s outcome means a second year in a row in which the team finished second place in the World Final.

Though it could have just as easily been awarded to jungler DanDy, the night ended with Samsung White support Mata taking home the 2014 World Championship MVP. He finished the tournament 18/27/253, with a 10.04 KDA, all the while serving as Samsung White’s strategic mastermind and shotcaller.

Nova Now Available in Marvel Heroes

marvel heroes

Richard Rider spent his early years as a normal kid growing up in New York before being chosen (seemingly at random) by the last surviving member of the Nova Corps. Rhomann Dey (who had also suffered mortal wounds in the final battle of the Corps).

Transferring his powers to Richard, Rhomann gave him a seemingly impossible task: become the last herald of the Nova Corps.

Becoming the “Human Rocket”, Richard uses his newfound cosmic powers to fight super villains both on Earth and off-world. He would eventually be called back to the reformed Nova Corps to assist them in policing the galaxy, and upon their fall during Annihilation, inherited the entirety of the Nova Force to become Nova Prime.

Able to move in and out of combat effortlessly, Nova can use both his melee and ranged powers to defeat enemies quickly.

In addition to his hybrid powers, Nova can also utilize the Nova Force to create Pulsars – hotspots which detonate after some time for various effects or be detonated by many of his powers! Play as Richard Rider as Nova Prime or check out the new Nova with the Sam Alexander Costume. The Sam Alexander Costume features alternate VFX on powers as well as unique power icons.

Shards of War Enters Beta Testing

shards of war

Shards of War is a new MOBA, it’s in sci-fi setting and unlike other MOBA games Shards of War uses a WASD control system to move your character. You can head on over to shardsofwar.com to sign up and play.

  • Traditional 5 vs. 5 PvP MOBA gameplay
  • Science-fiction based, unique setting
  • Lots of action and intuitive controls through top-down navigation (WASD)
  • Item upgrades and crafting
  • Loadout system (Opportunity to choose from a pool of different items before the match)

Some three years ago we wanted to create our own version of a MOBA game. We wanted something that would clearly distinguish itself from traditional run-of-the-mill medieval/magic/fantasy games and add a fresh spin. We wanted to equip our Sentinels (the characters you are playing) to wield big friggin guns, wear high-tech armor and use futuristic abilities.

Strife Global Open Beta is Now Live

strife

From PAX Prime, S2 Games announced that their new MOBA, Strife, has entered a global Open Beta.

Strife is a free to play MOBA that features deep, collaborative gameplay and of course includes purchasable cosmetic upgrades. S2 are focusing on building an engaging, enjoyable, team PvP game. One key design goal was to evolve the genre to create a more accessible MOBA with a high skill ceiling. Strife offers an experience that rewards everyone on the team for their role in victory. New features launching with Open Beta include single player content that allows players to interact with Strife’s lore, a companion app that allows players to check stats, craft items, and earn free resources from anywhere, and a partnership with Curse Voice to allow players to easily connect with friends.

“Our vision for Strife can be best explained by examining the globally beloved sport of Soccer,” said Marc DeForest, CEO and Co-Founder of S2 Games. “The way I’d play soccer with my kids is completely different from the way I’d play competitively in college or the way World Cup teams battle professionally. We designed Strife to be a game as accessible as soccer, to be enjoyed by players of all skill levels.”

To support the community and make it easier for people to find friends to form teams and queue, S2 Games also announced full Curse Voice integration for Strife. “Curse is extremely excited to be partnering with S2 for their upcoming MOBA title Strife. Having Curse Voice on day 1 of such a huge title is an incredible opportunity for us to bring the best communication platform for gamers into an exciting new take on the MOBA genre,” said Hubert Thieblot, Curse CEO.

The development team embraces the philosophy that action is king. Strife’s concise game map and out of combat regeneration keeps all members of the team close to the action. Less specifically designed rolls lead to increased versatility, freedom and enjoyment of gameplay. Less time building a foundation in lane leads to more matches. Deeply collaborative development through community feedback creates an open dialogue for players to communicate with the development team and affect future design decisions.

Archlord 2 PvP Rankings, Increased Level Cap, and More

Archlord 2

Webzen have revealed their Archlord 2 ranking page for a brutal, blood-spattered more competitive experience.

The Archlord 2 team is gearing up for the game’s first major content update with the implementation of the ranking page for the upcoming Archlord system, now available on the official website here.

With the introduction of the new Archlord system, players can compete each day to get the best scores in battlegrounds in order to gather enough points to be able to access the finals, a last man standing confrontation taking place every Sunday. The sole survivor of this brutal melee will then be crowned the Archlord.

In my experience there’s nothing quite like a leader board and titles to get people fighting!

Players who manage to accomplish this extraordinary feat will unlock access to exclusive skills and items worthy of the supreme ruler of Chantra. The ranking page has already been made available, while the Archlord system itself will be activated with the coming update.

The first major content update for the game will offer an increased level cap for characters, going from level 41 to level 46. In conjunction with this increase, players will be able to explore new quests and world areas, a new contested area, multiple new instanced dungeons and a whole new tier of loot.

The expansion is currently slated for mid-September.
