From the latest builds of the ongoing WoW: Cataclysm beta, Blizzard seem to be experimenting with Directx11 for their upcoming expansion, what does this mean exactly? Good question because the WoW engine itself does not generally have much going on in the graphics side, never the less you want to see the pictures right?

As you can see the support is still very basic only showing reflections. (Instead of more advanced features.) Testers have stated that a lot more models reflect over water now including spells.
So will we be seeing a Directx 11 supported release? I surely hope just to get some improvements on the graphics side, even if I personally don’t own a Directx 11 card just yet.
For people in the beta test you can see the game for yourself by following the instructions below.
“Expand a shortcut to your WoW.exe with “-d3d11”.
Alternatively, open the “Config.wtf” in “\ World of Warcraft \ Beta \ WTF” and add the line SET gxApi “d3d11″ (with quotes).”
